Greetings! I registered a month or 2 ago! Before I start, I would like to say that this is my very first blog entry and I started getting back into collecting anime figures again back in December of last year! :3 I'm a big fan of One Piece and open to any anime in general, just send a PM and lets be the best of neighbors! Also, I will be uploading some pictures in a little awhile! So stay tuned! :D

Okay, so getting back into topic, back when I got back into collecting a few months ago, what got me back was when I was wandering in this Japanese convient store. They carried these sealed plastic doll cases. I was thinking in my head, "Wow! This will totally get me back into collecting!". What made me stop collecting back in the past was dust. Dust makes havoc. This led me to keep my figures in boxes. Eventually, I bought a plastic doll case and got my first figure in the longest time, which was, "Nami (Strong World Ed.) - Portrait of Pirates".

I kept it in the plastic doll case I bought and just a couple days ago, when I opened both that and another doll case, I sniffed like the strongest smell of plastic or was it pvc?

It definitely smelled fresh and the figures are totally brand new. Like, I always have everything prepared and would instantly assemble and set up the figures into the box in the same hour. Just wanting to let viewers know that when the smell came out of the case after I opened it, I instantly felt lightheaded and the smell is still stuck in my head. I now sort of have a headache. Will this kill me? LOL

Any advice on pvc fume/smell or any smell in general in anime figures? What should I be aware of? What were your similar experiences?

Maestro7 l. temu#1469534I hear once you level up, licking them becomes another option in addition to smelling :P

Guys I have a question. I know most PVC figures have a certain plastic like smell, but has anyone noticed that Madokami ITEM #98665, actually smells more like fake Yu Gi Oh cards (If you know what I mean)...... Is this because she uses different paint?

Thank you for the advice! Very practical! :DDp38lightning77 l. temu#1468555I highly doubt the smell would be harmful. The last few figures I got new were radiating lots of PVC smell out of the box, but I actually thought the scent smelled nice.. Now a few days of display time, all the smell from them is gone. Unless you like put your nose up to them

Totally opened all my cases up 30 minutes ago! The smell is diminishing! :DDDymous7 l. temu#1468583I love the smell of PVC. You know how some people love the smell of gasoline? Like that, only not bad for you. Cheap action figures and stuff like that are the best for the good smell. ...Back on topic, if you want that to go away, all the figures need is a little time to air out.

Thanks for the advice! LOL As soon as I read your comment, I opened up all my cases and let all the fume release. The smell is diminishing! :DDkemando7 l. temu#1468525those are like PVC and paint fumes, since you unbox your figures right away and seal them in a case it doesn't really give them any time to air out, which imo could be bad for both you and your figures, bathing in their own excretion if it were, is never good. lol. Dust is a pain in the ass, in fact my figs need a dust, but I'm putting it off, I'd suggest a more open type display that is still partially closed but at least allows airflow, that or crack some holes in those cases and let your figures breath! lol
