No-Standers/Leaners: How to handle the Pesky Types of Figures?No-Standers/Leaners: How to handle the Pesky Types of Figures?

How do YOU handle these figures that spell out their own doom?

For this demonstration, I will be using the famed Uchiha brothers in their Toynami Figure line to demonstrate.

Figures with No Stand

These blindboxed Western-released Mininja figures have been known to be the cutest little things... but they fall to their doom quite easily. Most notoriously is ITEM #44870 Uchiha Itachi. His huge head and barely stable body keeps this guy off of his feet. Not so good for a ninja.

With a simple touch of the figure he falls. By merely gusting a blow of wind on him, he falls. Shaking the table he rests on - well... he still falls.

How do YOU handle figures that can't stand on their own?

My current remedy:
Blu-tack.
^ should I be using this stuff?

Leaners

Straight out of the "lean on me" brigade is Uchiha Sasuke in his 6" PVC Form ITEM #27498. He stands on one leg with a single REMOVABLE peg. I believe no ABS was used in the feet as the holes on both the stand and feet get looser and looser as time goes by.

For this figure I pose two questions:
#1: How do you handle leaners?
#2: How can I make that hole shrink tighter so it holds onto the peg better?

Watch as I rotate the figure around. You can see how much it leans.

As soon as I let go of the flimsy stand the figure falls.

My current remedy:
A slightly angled surface for him to stand on (put a bit of paper under the stand so it levels the weight a bit better, not really all that noticeable).
... and once again some Blu-tack cuz I'm desperate :(

Well, any info would be much appreciated :D

(Also, if there are some other pesky figures I don't know about yet, please do share the warnings! I'd best be prepared for whatever figures come my way!)

One of my World of Warcraft figures has a slight lean which makes him fall over all the time. I used to stick Blu tack on his feet but even that wouldn't hold him so now I've resorted to propping him up against some mini plushies T^T

My only figure that can't stand on his own and doesn't have a stand is my EC Action Figure Loki by Hasbro. I simply put him to the side of my shelf, so he won't fall (his spear and cape supporting him perfectly, it almost looks like he's standing on his own legs). For this picture I used blu-tack though and it worked.

Thanks for the advice guys. So far I've seen plenty of "Lean leaners on something else to lean on" - seems like a leanfest but let the leaners unite!
AH yes paint transfer... I need to be very wary of that especially during the Australian summer heat.
I don't think Sasuke has much time left until he officially falls beyond his current 'fallen' state both as a figure and a character.

for ones with no base that can't stand I normally sit them in the lap of one of my dolls picture/569760&... or lean them against another figure picture/569758&... like the little Marisa that's standing on the base by the star. Though for leaning one against another you have to be careful to put them in a way that avoids possible paint transfer or marks being left behind. I would personally avoid blue tack but for me it's not even an option since my shelf is glass.

Leaning has been covered very well in some other blog posts and forum discussions (there's even a club!), but if you get one that's a really bad leaner there is only so much you can do before it turns into watching them die slowly.

With my figures that have the same problem, I just place them at the side of my detolf, so they can "lean" against the glass...Here is an example, Gloomy bear can't sit by myself: PICTURE #594865

Not the very best thting to do, but better than letting them fall over or gluiing them I think! ^^'
