Not sure since I used google translate, was the translation correct? Does it really refer to best-selling? I'm sorry for any TL/grammar/link error and mistakes, just lemme know and I'll try to fix it! Anyway, there are 2 categories: Scale Figure and Mini Figure.

It's also said in the page that:
* The ranking is based on the company's own sales data (number of sales, amount of money, etc.) for figures released or scheduled to be released within 2022.

- Top 3 and half of top 10 were ALTER!? ...then it seems like their pricing won't change in the near future lol *crying* T___T
- It said mini figure (and the kana did say ミニフィギュア), but PUP and FZO also there? It makes it seems like it's a category for budget figs rather than mini...
- I found it interesting that with all nendoroid and PUP (considering it's in the category) came out, the 1st top wasn't them, and GSC only filled 3 from top 10
- Mini figure seems to be really affected by what series currently in hype, but not so much for scale?

deroth14 d. temu#116784138 I think that figure companies have moved on to making more figures of games and the like because they stick around longer than any seasonal anime would
I'm not too angry about the kind of figures being released nowadays because there's a ton of variety in terms of designs to pick from.

somehow I never thought of it this way, but it entirely makes sense.
I tend to forget how anime fans move onto the next thing right away and don't bother to check older shows. (I watch old and new both, and rarely play games)

sure, the designs are nice but I don't have time to play gatcha, esp not this many. I only buy figures if the character grows on me, so this just doesn't work out in my case. I'd love to play granblue though since those designs appeal to me the most, but that's the one with the least figures.

best-selling lists are useless, because for whom are they? not for the customer. it is just showing which figure is making the most bucks, does not even mean which figure is most loved or favorite.

I have anya and marine scale.

The only thing I bought from that list was Anya’s Nendoroid lol

nyugvo614 d. temu#116746411not enough anime on the list(that isn't the hottest ip) and action figures are nowhere. there's gatcha and a foreign ip.
it feels like things turned for the worse, and the roots of this obsession are forgotten. it worries me because:
anime has turned into cheap advertisement (less anime originals, there's a ton being made, but the quality is dropping)
in general people are buying less physical items.
they say otaku spend way more on gatcha than anime merch in general.
the list reflects this, unfortunately.

Not to sound like a downer or anything, but I think that it has been kind of like that for anime for like the past two decades. A lot of tv anime is made to be advertising for a manga or LN, and now games too. I think that figure companies have moved on to making more figures of games and the like because they stick around longer than any seasonal anime would, and since your average scale tends to be released like 2 years after being announced nowadays... it's easy to see how companies would rather make a figure of a character that could still be relevant after release. I'm not too angry about the kind of figures being released nowadays because there's a ton of variety in terms of designs to pick from.

Technically still a preorder. Only have one item on that list. When's formidable coming out? :/

I guess they sell well but not a lot of them are that popular in the rest of the world

Wow! I own that Musashi and it's amazing, so I'm not surprised its #1 tbh.

Thanks for posting this.

Hm hm, I saw some people mentioned about nendoroids from a hyped series, such as Jujutsu/Genshin.

GSC has many partner shops in many countries, maybe people prefer to order from there?

Long rambling...
Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoileraI dunno how it is in other countries and whether this ranks consider both JP/global, but while nendoroid is popular in my country (yah amongst those who know figures and anime/manga/game/etc anyway) actually people here veeery rarely bought figures directly from international stores such as AmiAmi, Hobby Search, etc.

This is because not many people familiar with the process of buying something from out of the country (customs etc), language and payment options barrier, and there are plenty figure stores in my country. Many of them also listed as GSC partner shop. And their figure price (not limited to nendo or GSC, and in my country's currency), is similar to the price in AmiAmi, but it's already all-in. Meanwhile the price in AmiAmi hasn't included shipping fee + tax. Yea there's a shipping cost from store to buyer, but cheap, if you're in same city/town, the basic shipping cost doesn't even reach $1 per kg.

Like, I can buy from AmiAmi/JP stores (using proxy/forwarding) just fine, but for figures, I raaaarely bought it directly. I also preordered from local store, because the different in price is just that great, and even bigger the pricier the figures are. For example, an almost 30k yen figure. Local stores offer a price in my country's currency, that if converted, would more or less be 30k yen. Surely I chose that, because if I bought it myself, considering shipping and tax, the total cost might reached like, 37-40k yen maybe... The gap can get me another figure...

Oh, btw the downside is that it takes longer. There are more expensive store that only takes 3 weeks from release till it arrived in the country, but cheaper one may take 1-2-3 months
