I was just looking at my figure collection and thought wow, I don't think I've ever seen any scales/prepainted figures with holographic or iridescent parts or accents!

While I am a BIT curious about the reason, it was easy enough to come up with multiple potential reasons myself (difficult to implement, expensive, difficult to capture in figure photography?, lack of demand from Japanese market, etc.).

So, I'm more curious if anyone knows figures (prepainted or kits as done by specific artists) with holographic/iridescent parts or accents?

I know there are figures like ITEM #1112425 that have been purposely coloured to give the IMPRESSION of iridescence, but I'm mainly curious about ones that are ACTUALLY iridescent/etc.

I also OFC am familiar with the iconic leonasworkshop.... kit job that has holographic glitter accents, I would love to see/know of more garage kits that people have done stuff like this with!!

I also know there are a lot of figures with shiny/metallic/pearlescent paint effects that look sort of iridescent but don't have the actual colour shifting to be considered actually iridescent, so those are not what I'm looking for~

It's really hard to tell from the photos but I recently got her and in-person the hair (and even the eyes!) shift between teals/greens/blues with hints of yellow and sometimes even a purpley-pink. It's a bit transparent and takes on the quality of any colors/lighting around it as well. Archiwheel took the best photo picture/3108984... I've seen showing off the iridescence. ...

How could I forget that ... I even have her on display. Yes you are right there is an iridescent effect on her hair and eyebrows.

I'm currently planning to paint my Bubblegum Crisis Knightsaber GKs with Green Stuff World's chameleon paints. If you want to paint something with color changing effects or holographic, take a look at these. They are really easy to paint with an airbrush and the effects are cool:

The second pic shows their holographic paint which turns silver if laid on thick.
It's hard to take good pics of the effect, you can also check youtube videos of those paints or the videos on the product website:

If anyone needs pics of a certain color I can take some, since the paint sample pics don't do them justice.

My figma Ultimate Madoka ITEM #117907 has an iridescent effect on the pink parts of her clothes (socks, pink skirt and pink sleeve parts), which I mentioned and tried to capture in my review a while back BLOG #51546
But yeah, I'd love to see some more figures with these types of finishes :)

*Edited to add* I don't quite think it'd be that expensive though, as I have a Playline Doll (OMG Kitty K) where all her plastic accessory parts have a holographic finish (she was about $25 if I remember correctly)

Someone mentioned Solwa Miku already, I *love* that dichromatic base, I hope it comes out just as good as the pics!

I love holofoil/iridescent properties and so I'm always looking for figures like this too! I also follow Leona and I love the way she incorporates crystals/effect paints into her kits. Would love for more companies to experiment with materials like she does... If you follow any dice/resin makers you'd know all the amazing foil/iridescent/dichromatic effects that are popular there nowadays and I hope a few manufacturers incorporate those techniques into more figures.

plasticizer1 mies. temu#110943415I’ve been messing with various color-shifting effects lately. I believe what you’re looking for is called interference or polychromatic pigments. The one I use is called chameleon or holographic chrome on Amazon and the intended use is for nails.
I mix a pinch with TAMIYA gloss and spray them on top of a base color and it works as intended (though not as smooth as simply dabbing them on a tacky surface and buffing them).

Yea I've owned some pigment powder stuff myself, describing it more technically probably wouldn't have helped many other people know what I was looking for though, lol.

I appreciate the insight on the process/materials you use!! I'd love to see how some of the stuff you've been trying turns out!

Kenpi1 mies. temu#110946812I don't think there are any, to my knowledge at least. I was really excited about the new Rei figure's shoes (weird I know) and of course they faked it. picture/3112449... vs. picture/2785357...
weak.
I would totally understand the excitement if it hadn't ended up being faked tho lol. its too bad because it seems like applying something like a holographic foil on the shoes wouldn't be that much technically harder than say, sakura mikus having little sakura stickers applied in her hair, but c'est la vie i guess ;;

tempura1 mies. temu#110943373Closest thing I could think of is ITEM #1326013, which has an iridescent base. It would've been cool if parts of her jacket were also iridescent to match the base but I don't know how possible that'd be lolol. Streetwear/techwear figures in general would look so good with some holographic finish oooh even if only base its still a good rec, thanks! I think doing the completely transparent parts on a lot of streetwear/techwear as holographic would probably be not THAT hard to accomplish, but probably more expensive and time consuming lol. But yea I totally agree!! you'd think there'd be like at least one in the style with holo bits

The closest paintjob to iridescent that I can think of is Next Purple Processor Unit Full Ver.(ITEM #694842)
