This is the first review I put up on MFC, so please be gentle! ´v`Also, most of this pictures weren't taken with the idea of making a review, so excuse the poor lightning and setup UvU

INTRODUCTION
It makes me quite sad when there are figures here on MFC with hardly any owners and few or even no user pictures at all. This Pastel Ink from Clayz was one example, the only pics uploaded were found on an auction online, and weren't charming at all.
When I had the chance to order her, I didn't hesitate and just added her to my cart. I was pretty excited about her, but my excitement didn't really last long, for she didn't give a very nice first impression.

Okay, let's get started with the review!

PACKAGING

A figure's packaging is your first impression, now isn't it? Well, it wasn't a good one in this case. Just see it for yourselves:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566966.jpeg

It looks terrible!![ No blister, no plastic protection.. JUST TERRIBLE.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566967.jpeg

The sides are OK.. Though they should have included the illustration the figure is based on, I mean, come on.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566968.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566969.jpeg

The base is "hidden" underneath the figure, and it has more protective plastic than the actual figure. Which is ridiculous. Also look at the horrible cardboard they used, couldn't they AT LEAST print something on it?

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566984.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566986.jpeg

She had these two wires for protection, the area which they secured had a tiny piece of plastic to prevent the wire from rubbing against the figure. That wasn't a problem though, the only thing I struggled with was HOW POINTY THOSE WIRES WERE. I almost cut my whole finger >:I

Okay, enough ranting. What can I say? The packaging is the most horrible I own. It doesn't really protect the figure, since the window is very flimsy, and it does not look good from any perspective. The good point is it is small and light, and thus shipping was extremely cheap.
However, I would've rather payed more for a prettier and sturdier packaging.

SCULPTING

Let's take a quick look at her without her base.
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566987.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566988.jpeg

Not charming either, huh? Leaving painting aside since I will address it later, look at the seams. I don't think they even TRIED to hide them. She has multiple seams on top of her head, along her arms, outfit, bow.. Everywhere. Though the most noticeable ones are the ones on the hair, and they can't be seen if displayed at eye-level.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566996.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566997.jpeg

Her hands are a bit chunky to me, but they look somewhat ok. The wrinkles of her clothes, however, are quite lovely, specially on her bathing suit and her fallen thigh-high. They also did a nice job on the bow at the back of her dress, so Ill give them that.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567001.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567002.jpeg

The strings that come out of her sleeves are made out of a softer PVC, so there's no risk of them breaking in case she falls off your shelf. Or off a helicopter. She feels (and looks) as if she was made out of chewing gum. But, yeah.

I have a complaint about the scale, but I address later on as well ´v`

PAINTING

Most of you should've realized by now, but.. Her skin needs some serious help.
This is probably mainly because of the EIGHT YEARS that have passed since this figure was released, but PLEASE HELP, look at that skin!!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567008.jpeg

It is sticky and shiny and dark ): It looks seriously bad. The blush on her cheeks is really pretty though, and the decals for the eyes are.. ok! Could be better, but they are ok. The painted eye-lid was also affected by time and it looks some kind of shiny pink, pretty ugly.
The rest of the body, as shown in previous pictures has little to no shading and highlights. Almost like a prize figure. The only noticeable accents are on the yellow sections, specially the ribbon on her back, and there's also a slight lilac tint on the tips of her hair, but it's really subtle.

The light blue ruffles at the sides of her suit also have shading, but apart from what I just mentioned, she's basically a prize figure. A shiny and sticky price figure ):

She also bleeds in several places. Her kneesocks and the yellow straps on her shoes and collar (along with the lazy green bead) are very sloppy.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567013.jpeg

In conclusion? The colors of everything, except the skin, are pretty much spot on, but they lack a lot of work.

POSING

This is the illustration the figure is based on:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567018.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567003.jpeg

The angle of my picture is quite off, but they resemble each other a lot. I really like the illustration, and the body matches it quite well (except her left leg should be a little bit towards the left). Her head and yellow strings are off, but the pose is still very very cute <3

BASE

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566998.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/566999.jpeg

I don't think there is anything good about this base.
It is unnecessarily tall, the color is distracting, the peg doesn't fit all the way in, and there is no picture provided of HOW ON EARTH you are supposed to make Ink balance on it. I just placed her hand on the rod, but PLEASE, it looks so bad!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567004.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567015.jpeg

Probably one of the worst bases I own.

SCALE
Look at this picture for a second

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567017.jpeg

Would you believe me if I told you that every single Ink (except the nendoroid, of course) is 1/8, EXCEPT THE ONE I AM REVIEWING?
IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE 1/6

1/6.

HOW IS THIS 1/6

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567006.jpeg

The picture proves how far Clayz went in just a couple of years (well, fours;; )
Both are Pastel Ink figures by Clayz, the first one listed as 1/6, and the second as 1/8.
I'd say they are both the same scale, 1/8, maybe this one is slightly bigger, but it probably just looks like that because it is a tad closer to the camera. Terrible lies >:I

ENJOYMENT

What can I say? Do I regret getting her unopened for a little over 1500 yen?

...
No!
No I don't!
Would I do it again?
YES I WOULD

But not because she's cute or high quality or anything, but because I have a problem with Moetan, and I need everything related <3

I couldn't ever possibly get every Moetan figure BUT ONE, you know?
So no, I don't regret getting her and never will! In fact, I'd get another one just for kicks and laughs. You can never have enough Ink.

She is a terrible figure, but I won't ever stop liking her, just because.. BECAUSE INK.

Have some more pics with other Pastel Ink figures, just so that you see how bad it looks next to them:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567016.jpeg
http://s1.tsuki-board.net/upload/pictures/2012/11/19/567007.jpeg

Conclusion!
This was an impulse purchase, just so you know (like most purchases in my case). I am madly in love with this girl, I can't get enough of her! This figure is the worst in my scale collection (I have a couple of gashapons which look quite worse, BUT HEY THEY ARE TRADING FIGURES), but I still quite like her. I admit I was VERY mad when I first saw her in person, it was frustrating to have her be sticky and dark and full of weird stains and have such ugly base and packaging... But if you take into account that EIGHT years have passed, it's not that bad. Very bad indeed, but not THAAAAT bad.

I am glad I got her, and now continue my hunt for the other Kotobukiya versions and Griffon's rendition, along with the complete trading figure sets.

If you are a fan of Moetan or Pastel Ink, and I mean a DIE-HARD-FAN, and you see her for less than 2k, consider going for her, but don't expect too much! If you like your figures cuter, then go for Kotobukiya's version. If you like them sexy, go for the OTHER Clay's version, the Queen's blade one. Anddd if you want HQ figures, go for GoodSmile's. It's by far the most detailed and neat out of them all.

See you later!

sarahbear4 l. temu#10941890I actually really like her!!

Lucky you, then! She's really cheap to find, and I can't deny she's indeed cute~

Stalking5 l. temu#3345934Oh, so you took the plunge and got her!
She's really cute despite her flaws if you can find her for a good price, I'm sure you'll end up taking a liking for her just like I did. <3

She was so cheap and I was already combining for a big order with a proxy, so I thought "why not". :P

I absolutely adore her posing. I like the original artwork it was based on a lot too. :) I still have to unbox her and fix her transfers, but I will give her a nice spot inbetween my other Moetan stuff. :)

Maakie5 l. temu#3322473I finally decided to buy this one for myself now and pretty much the first reaction I had was the same as your "HOW IS THIS 1/6". xD She is really small, more like a 1/8 even with the kneeling pose. :/
Mine is still sealed in box, but I can see from looking throught the window that she already has a pretty big scuff mark on her right knee. :/
But to get to the good part, her face and posing is so cute!. I also paid like 1200 yen for her, so NO REGRETS. <3 I'm also glad that I still remember this review so I sort of knew what to expect.

Maakie7 l. temu#1236770She pops up every now and then and most of the time she is only around 3000-4000 yen, so you really should get her if you have the chance! :D
I got her at a sale at a webshop (about 2 years ago) for only 25 euros! :3
And I had the same point with the Hello Kitty-prize figurine. One time I just gave in and bought her. I immediatly wrote a review about her, because so little was known about her and I wanted to let other people know what to expect from her. xD Too bad it isn't very positive, but for that price, yeah, you can't really hope for much?! xD

I've been waiting for a while for her to pop, and I keep missing her >_< I hope to snatch her this year though!

Stalking7 l. temu#1236754I'm hunting the Griffon one like crazy! I'll snag her as soon as she pops up in amiami pre-owned, or I'll just hunt her down next week (I've exceeded my limits this week... though I always do that ´v` )
Oh, that prize figure has been tempting me for a while, she popped up for about 900 yen on amiami a couple of times, but her quality keeps me from getting her... I will eventually own her, but not now!

Maakie7 l. temu#1236750Reminds me of another figurine based on a POP-character: BLOG #3568 They have the same "skin-problems". Luckily I got mine also for very cheap (1200 yen if I recall correctly), so I wasn't too mad about it.
I see you collect Pastel Ink, may I highly recommend ITEM #3835 I own this Pastel myself and I am really in love with it, everytime I look at her. The details (especially in her clothing) and her pose are so nice! :3 And that one is really a 1/6! xD
