Whittling down the CollectionWhittling down the CollectionDiary

Just a quick note and diary entry.

I've been whittling down my figures over the past year due to a number of reasons; namely financial challenges and lack of space. It's down to a manageable size now though there are a few more I'm on the fence about trying to sell. We shall see what happens.

A few new figures were added to the collection as well. I found more of the vintage Sailor Moon figures and have all of the outer scouts as well as the inner scouts now. (Also have Molly, the cats, and Tuxedo Mask. But still no Chibi Moon.) Also found the Final Fantasy Floral Fatal Yuna figure I'd been wanting and a Catwoman figure I didn't know I needed. That's about it aside from a Jasmine figure from '92 that isn't listed on the site.

I don't plan to expand my collection further for the foreseeable future. Need to get the finances in order so I can move and start a new career. So that will be most of my focus. Just trying to keep my possessions minimal to make moving easier and since I don't know when I'll have my own apartment.

But I'm definitely enjoying the new set up for the figures I do have. I added a few photos to my gallery to show the set up. Found some clear acrylic floating shelves on Amazon and secured them via the heavy duty, picture hanging command strips. It works quite well for my needs. :)

Added some photos of the shelves.

Thank you for the positive comments, all. It's tough to whittle down the collection at times cause you can be nervous that you may want a particular figure again in the future. But it feels so much better to only have what you need and be able to display those with pride. :)

Word of caution though, the command strips DON'T hold forever so keep an eye out for this and see if you can use screws to anchor in the future. I have had hooks where the glue wore out after a year due to change in temperature, etc. and fell off the back of my door (I was lucky enough to have empty itabags hanging off it) so it's the last thing you want to have happen to a shelf of precious figures. I try to purge and go through my collection once a year or so but I swear it grows faster than I sell it.

Oh my stars, that's good to know! I haven't had issues with command hooks in the past, but I've also not really had them up for more than a year or so at a time. I tend to move around a lot. Usually just renting out a room temporarily to keep costs low, and till I find a place where I want to live for longer term. Lol

It's wonderful to find a happy medium with your collection, where it makes you happy and isn't straining another part of your life. Making the best out of what you have rather than trying to get a bunch more stuff is great! I try to do that often as well, I cull my collection regularly so that I can be satisfied with what I have while also feeling like I don't have too much clutter.

It's also great that you're putting yourself and your future ahead of collecting; I've seen too many people put their collections ahead of themselves. I love seeing people do what you're doing! :)

Chloe-tsundere The louise otaku
It is always good to enjoy what you have and be satisfied. Which seems the case here.
You dont always need more to still enjoy the hobby after all :)

Im also downsizing a lot, but now felt tempted by some funkos, which at first i was very meh about but with monsters/animals.. they look rather cute. Like flareon funko or the how to train your dragon set ><

I plan to get rid of 30 figs atm and maybe more eventually
I tried selling off a louise once and then missed her so bad so i guess i will always stay with my 34 louises ha-ha :p but even there i considered letting go of the ones that arent prepainted.. or damaged.

Congrats on obtaining the figures you wanted and good luck on your new career! I think it's great that you're keeping it slow now and enjoying the figures that you have, rearranging them, taking photos of them and whatnot. :D
