As promised in my previous review of Alter's Archer, I hereby present to you my review of Aquamarine's Archer! I still make photos with my phone so I hope this quality will do. You can click the pics to view them in full size.
Here and there I will compare between Alter's version (maybe I could call him Alcher?) and Aquamarine's version (referred to as GARcher) and at the end I will make a quick summary of what my final verdict is of the two, so you can decide which one is his best figure :) Let's get to it!

By the way, between writing this review and the previous one I did get him in Fate/Grand Order as well, thanks to the SR giveaway campaign in June^^

I'm not sure if this figure is based on any art of him, his pose kinda resembles the posters for Fate/Stay Night: Unlmited Blade Works where he's standing with his back towards the viewer.

The box design looks quite simple but it works. It has a nice red gradient and some pics of the figure from various angles. The back shows a shot of him from the back with a fiery background.

I didn't take blister photos this time because taking the swords out of his hands is a bit hard so I didn't do it. He comes in five parts: main figure, base, his two weapons and the alternative smiling faceplate.

The base is a glossy black oval. Typical Aquamarine base, their Okita Souji has a similar base as well. Each of his feet attach to the base with two pegs so he stands pretty secure.

I know some people detest Aquamarine for making their bases so simplistic; personally it doesn't bother me, some text print would be nice but at least the base doesn't distract from the figure.

The figure
Let me say something first: This. Figure. Is. Massive.
I already knew he would be quite big but I was still surprised. Archer is quite a tall guy at 1.87m but with this figure being 30cm tall the scale is actually 1/6.5.

Size is not the only thing big about him. He has gigantic pecs. Chest muscles, leg muscles, arm muscles, it's all there.

This guy is truly worthy of the name GARcher.

His weapons Kanshou and Bakuya are also massive. By the way there is no part of the swords that detaches or anything like that like with Alcher, you just wriggle it into his hands. Getting them out is also a bit of a challenge which is why I didn't do it for this review. The hand sculpt is decent although Alter does it better.

Overall, I really like his sculptwork. His paint is also good, although Alcher is better in that regard.

When the official pics got revealed there was quite some concern about his face; the serious face looked too stern, the smiling face looked like a duckface or a literal :3 face and overall the features were too defined. Thankfully, the finished product looks much better in this regard!

Smiling face:

Serious face:

Compared to Alcher, GARcher looks much more mature and true to his version in the Ufotable anime.

For comparison, I quickly threw together this pic:

I actually prefer his smiling faceplate, I think he looks wholesome and I like seeing him happy :)

You swap his faceplates by taking off the front of his hair Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoilerahttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2018/09/24/2065781.png and then removing the current faceplate. Unfortunately there are some noticable seamlines due to this, I think they should've opted for optional heads instead.

At least it's not visible from the front so I can live with this.

Alcher vs. GARcher
While I do own both, I couldn't get a picture of them next to each other since GARcher is at my mom's house and Alcher is in my student room and at the moment I do not have any space for him there so I won't take him there.
So for a size comparison, I can only give you this chan pic that got uploaded to MFC:

First of all I want to say that both of them are worth to get. There's something to say for each of them and ultimately it just depends on your preferences.

Do you want to get an 1/8 scale of him that is Alter quality and will look good with the upcoming Cú Chulainn? Alcher is your man.
Do you want a more accurate depiction of Archer in the Fate/Stay Night UBW anime which truly deserves the name GARcher and you do not care that he's big AF or you want one that doesn't get outscaled by GSC's 1/7 Rin? Get GARcher!

In my opinion, Alcher has better quality and a better size but GARcher has a better face and is overall a more accurate depiction of UBW Archer.

Hope you liked my review :) Which one do you prefer?

Ah thanks...I saw a couple of your pics the other day, but didn't realize you did a review of him until just now. I think he looks great! I like the slightly more beefed up version and the more mature, as I agree it looks more like his char from UBW.

I love that smiling face...it's just the right amount of smile.

I agree on the hair/face plates though...it's manageable since it doesn't show from the front so much, but separate heads would've looked better. Still is nice to have options and he still looks great.

Love this...thanks so much for sharing. Great review!!!

Wow great review! It's too bad the face didn't sell it for me, but I'm glad there are people who like this Archer!

I knew he was a big scale but that size difference is way different lol. Overall I do prefer the Aquamarine better cuz it really capture Archer. Is a simple pose but Aquamarine did such an amazing paint job and they really define Archer muscles(the alter one look like a twink lol)

I have like/dislike for him but I can't deny how good this scale is!

Holy cow, I knew you said he was massive, but I didn't really have a good idea of HOW big until the comparison pic!!

Thanks for the great review! I wasn't aware he came with a smiling face, so thank you for bringing that to my attention; it's so cute!

Nice review! I'm still not totally sold on his face but he looks great other than that, and so big!

OOF that seam on the back of the head where you pull the hair off is so unfortunate, because the rest of this figure is gorgeous. Thanks for the review!

I may pick up this version too, but man that hair gap is really bad.

Glad to see that the face was changed. Still not sold on the smiling face, but the serious face looks a lot better.

Josine1 r. temu#40732782ikr! I'm getting to the point now where I'm gonna have to let my mom allow me to get a dedicated figure display in my room there as well since my student room is kinda out of space :s I mean I could buy and put more detolfs there but the actual problem is: where am I gonna leave my boxes... Ah yes! 75% of my collection just lives in my closet, and if I'm home for a month or so I unpack everyone onto my desks and wall shelves, and in the student room the boxes are just piling lol! Hope you don't mind the fired request, I've seen your blogs before and it looks like we have a lot in common!
