Which Nanachi is Your Favorite?

I know we don't have color on Toy's Work's, but now that all three have a prototype, which one is your favorite Narehate? :)

ITEM #604500 Kotobukiya

ITEM #604470 Freeing

ITEM #604586 Toy's Works

For me, I think I love Freeing's best simply b/c of Mitty's presence, but I don't know how I'm going to be able to resist any Made in Abyss figure that's released ;___;

I'm excited to see the Riko and Reg from Toy's Works, too!

Coffee (20 d. temu) #28919163I'm just going to end my replies here since this is getting out of topic, figures are rarely based on frames from the actual show or comic, they're usually based on original illustrations or visual/promotional art.I know and this trend doesn't necessarily have to continue forever. Instead of making sculpt from a fanservice illustration or promo art, the companies could make figures from the actual story. But i think currently the illustration figures sell so well that there's no point in making anything else. I'm just not fan of the current trend.

...I agree with you here! But does she ever smile with a pose like the Kotobukiya scale in the story of the manga?

I don't think you understand what i meant with "fanservice sculpt". What i meant by it is a figure that has a pose and/or facial expression combination that has nothing to do with the story. Take the Kotobukiya pose for example, Nanachi never made that pose in the tv show. I don't know about the recent manga chapters, i dropped the manga after mitty arc. IF Nanachi made that pose+facial expression in the recent manga story arcs, then it's not necessarily a fanservice sculpt. If she didn't then it's a fanservice sculpt. My point was that there's too much fanservice sculpts instead of character poses+expressions that are faithful to the story where they are from.

CoffeeLook, the most accurate expression for a Nanachi figure would most likely be her embarrassed face Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoilerahttps://pm1.narvii.com/6590/f3bd255ce8dc24512400e7b87e534408f36dec96_hq.jpg and hell, I'd buy that, but honestly, it's hard to make those kind of expressions look good on a static figure.I'm not sure if that's the most accurate expression for Nanachi figure, i think it's subjective. I'm fine with whatever expression they use aslong it's true to the story of the character. I personally prefer sculpts that show the character in their powerful emotional moment from the story. Ofc there's people that will disagree with me and want figures in out of character expressions or fanservice poses. The current trend seems to be that it doesn't matter what expression or pose scales the companies make, people buy them anyway.

CoffeeAnd I actually do prefer figures that are more accurate to the character's behavior, but seriously, Nanachi does smile, a lot.
Not just on the covers or some "small picture in the corner of the last page of one of the books", she smiles, a lot.
I agree with you here! But does she ever smile with a pose like the Kotobukiya scale in the story of the manga?

CoffeeEveryone is entitled to whatever they wantI agree, it's what i also said at the end of my last reply.

Coffeebut to say that a figure depicting a character smiling who does smile a lot is out of character, sorry, not buying it.I never said this. It's not just the smiling, it's the pose aswell. For anime only viewers the Kotobukiya scale can be out of character fanservice sculpt because of the pose. There's nothing wrong with it, i'd just like to see different sculpts than what we seem to be getting now. That was essentially my point in the last reply.

Lilie (20 d. temu) #28916990The classic defense of fanservice sculpts...

Coffee (20 d. temu) #28915134Except Nanachi does actually smile a lot.
Especially on most of the official art released, both anime and Tukushi Akihito's art work.
The classic defense of fanservice sculpts, i've seen these same comments with the madoka magica scales. With madoka magica we never got any scales that represented the depressing world and atmosphere that was in the tv show, we never got scales of characters in their defining powerful moments, there were so many awesome scles they could have done like shadow Sayaka. Instead we got tons of happy magical girl scales in silly poses. Atleast with Nanachi we have some variation, there's actually a scale that represents a powerful moment from the show. There's way too much scales made from artwork where its just characters smiling in some silly poses that was never seen in the show. It amazes me that so many people buy these scales, but if you like scales that were made from some random artwork page at the end of a manga chapter i guess that's fine, it's your money, your preferences what defines a character for you.

jimreynold2nd (20 d. temu) #28911380Out of the 3, I still have not seen one worth getting... None of them captured her 3 defining features: cute, sad, and fluffy. It may be hard to sculpt something "fluffy" with a plastic figure, but it should definitely not be shiny plastic. Also, Nanachi should not be this cheery.

If all you associate Nanachi with is the Mitty scenes, then I guess I get what you're going at, but Nanachi is a pretty cheery character.
Maybe not as much as the rest of the cast though.
Potential spoilers for the anime-only watchers, but Nanachi does get happier the more time she's spent with Reg and Rico.

To answer OP's question though, my favorite is definitely the Kotobukiya one.
The pose and expression is the most subtle.
I don't like the pose on the Toy's Works one and even if I love the idea of having a Mitty next to Nanachi, I'm not the biggest fan of figures that are flat on the ground.
I always have a hard time displaying them in a good way.

I like Koto's the best but the Freeing one is definitely emotionally packed with Mitty being there too
