This review will be special for me, as I didn't end up ordering any figures in June, but I was lucky enough to get this one. I was lucky because I wanted to go to Anime Expo this year, but wasn't able to...fortunately my friend Bioburn was nice enough to help me get one from the con! Thank you again for helping with that! ^___^

Also WARNING: There will be spoilers (tagged, of course).

And so, this is Figma Yuuki from "Sword Art Online II":

(Each photo can be clicked on to give a full-size view of the image, even if the image itself doesn't display).

Here's her in the box:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286643.jpeg

Yuuki is presented in her ALfheim Online game version / Undine version (also known as ALO). Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoileraOf course this is sadly her only online form.

Honestly, the look of the Figma boxes is done in a really nice professional looking way; but I would still prefer if they put an image of the figure itself on the front of the box, similar to the way they do on the other sides of it.

Sides of the box:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286645.jpeg

Shockingly, there isn't a sticker anywhere on the package to indicate that it's from "Anime Expo" or an "AX Exclusive" at all. I suppose it's probably because she'll be getting more releases later; but at the same time it would be nice to distinguish this specific release in some way...

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286649.jpeg

This figure is very special, for a number of reasons. First off is the obvious numbering; being from the EX series of Figma figures; EX-033. But secondly, she's special because she has only had a limited release so far.

She was released at Anime Expo 2016 as an exclusive there (along some other figures from GSC). Surprisingly this was her first release (not even the Japanese market got her before that); which is quite impressive.

Alas, she will be released later at Summer Wonder Festival 2016 (limited to 2500 pieces there), and lastly online on the GSC site between Sunday, July 24th, 2016 at 16:00 JST and Monday, August 1st, 2016 at 21:00 JST. But even then she will be limited by being a part of a single order only; as she is one of the many items in the "WONDERFUL HOBBY LIFE FOR YOU!! 24" selection.

Back of the box:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286647.jpeg

The back of Yuuki's box continues the new standardized professional/clean design for Figma figures; making for an easy-to-view setup with plenty of images showing the various poses for Yuuki to be in and accessories for her to use, including one to interact with Figma Asuna (more on that later in the review).

There is also a sticker on the back of the box; commonplace for overseas Figma releases now.

All of her parts:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286641.jpeg

Yuuki comes with a decent set of parts. She comes with enough parts to need some put behind the figure in a separate plastic insert. Here's the list:

Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoilera-- Yuuki herself
-- OSS Skill scroll
-- Sword
-- Sheath sword hilt extension
-- 2 alternate facial expressions
-- 4 sets of hands (3 partially left closed fists for holding the sword and scroll, 2 open hands, 2 closed fists and 1 V-sign right hand)
-- Fairy wings
-- Plug
-- 1 Figma stand with extension
-- Extra wrist joint
-- Parts bag
-- Extra hand holder
-- Instructions

Instructions:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286744.jpeg

As is the norm now, Good Smile Company has decided to include the instructions for Figmas in both English and Japanese. They are the same on each side; just one side with one language and vice-versa.

The English instructions help a lot for those who don't read Japanese and only read English. Her instructions show all of the figure's parts as well as how to change out the special parts included with Yuuki, including her fairy wing pack and accessories for it, sword/sheath combo, putting the sword and scroll in her hand, and interacting with Asuna.

Out of the package:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286686.jpeg

As with all Figma figures, she comes ready to go out of the box once the plastic protectors are removed from shipping in the plastic core. She has her closed fists and slightly smiling/happy in place. She can be held by the stand with or without the extension plug.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286688.jpeg

Yuuki also has all of the joints and abilities to pose that are standard to all Figma figures. In a similar way to Figma ALO Asuna, Yuuki does have one extra joint in the back of her head, allowing her long hair to be moved up and down (letting the stand keep her head straight in the direction you want it while still supporting the figure with the stand).

Staying very true to her online form; Yuuki's outfit is very well done with lots of attention to detail and amazing accuracy in virtually any pose!

Open hands/sword hilt:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286690.jpeg

Yuuki has a good number of accessories to choose from, some of which are different hand options. Most Figma figures come with the 'open hand' set of hands; as does Yuuki. This is good for posing in most poses; as it can be set up to look natural very easily.

She also has a sword hilt extension, similar to Figma Asuna. This one, however, has a specific shape to it:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286746.jpeg

It has a notch sticking out of one end, which goes down when plugging into her sheath; to make it appear that her sword is put away. This is not to be confused with the smaller sword handle (on the left of the photo), as that one plugs into the sword itself, not the sheath.

With sword and angry face:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286692.jpeg

Yuuki can also draw her sword, as previously mentioned, by using the sword handle piece and the sword blade piece. They split in half to allow easier fitting into Yuuki's hand; but can also be pushed in as one piece too (but not recommended, as it might force open the hand over time).

Also in the above photo is Yuuki's angry/battle expression. She comes with a total of 3 faces; this being the 2nd one. She uses this pretty much anytime she's engaged in combat; as she's rarely ever angry otherwise (there were times, but not very common).

Ironically, because of the optional sword/sheath storage/usage parts; not only does this allow Yuuki to have her sword either drawn or in it's sheath at any given time; it also gives her an odd ability to have 2 weapons on her at the same time as well as the scroll:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286694.jpeg

Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoileraOf course Yuuki only has one weapon in the anime, because she is known for her single sword combat skill, Mother's Rosario.

Scroll/Happy Face/V-Sign:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286721.jpeg

Yuuki comes with one final face, her innocent smile expression. This is really the best one to showcase her, as it's the facial expression she uses most often when she's happy in the anime.

One of her accessories is the scroll. It's a bit spoiler-ish to say what it is, but basically it's for a sword skill. Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoileraSpecifically the OSS Skill she gave to Asuna.

Wing pack:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286723.jpeg

While not an accessory (at least in terms of the anime), Yuuki comes with one final accessory for the figure: A wing pack. This actually is summoned/extracted from her body in the anime rather than tacked onto her back; but as the figure can't do this; this was the only way to do it in toy form.

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286725.jpeg

The wing pack has 4 joints; 1 on each wing. The wings have really great range of motion up and down and each wing moves independently of the others. It also has a hole in the center, so it simply plugs into the hole on her back:

Also her hair doesn't get in the way at all of the wings thanks to the joint added to the back of her head for the long hair.

Oddly enough, there are two options to hold the wing pack in place: The standard Figma base's plug, and a separate plug:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286742.jpeg

It's just a small piece of clear plastic, but it really is odd...because, as with most Figma's, Yuuki has balance issues without her base. While it may be possible to get her to stand without the base through lots of trial and error; it's not a guarantee, and so the plug doesn't really help at all (it might be used in conjuction with the Asuna figure, but again, Yuuki's balance issues would render it fairly useless).

It can be used with a Figma stand that has a clip on it (such as this one: ITEM #71140 ; but the results aren't the best:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468433080.jpeg

Flight wing pack:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286727.jpeg

Because of the design of the base and the length of Yuuki's outfit; it's fairly difficult to get her into any really dynamic flying poses. Also Yuuki's hair is almost always extended up in the back because of the Figma base plug going into her back, under the hair (the hair lies down flat without it plugged in).

Figma Asuna Accessory:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286748.jpeg

As previously mentioned Yuuki comes with a special accessory that on it's own doesn't really do any good; but paired with a previously released Figma figure (and previously reviewed Figma figure by me; Figma ALO Version Asuna); it works really well!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286775.jpeg

It can be a bit tricky to get them line up and next to each other (especially with the bases), but once done it looks great! This works especially well if you happened to order the Good Smile Company bonus for Asuna; her smiling expression (so she can match Yuuki's expression)!

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286777.jpeg

Having them hold hands works any which way you have the wings: Open, closed or not attached.

But why so much Asuna-related accessories for Yuuki? Well, again, it ties to the anime:

Pokaż zawartość spoileraUkryj zawartość spoileraAsuna tried her best to make friends with her despite Yuuki's initial reluctance, but once she got through to her; they shared almost a sisterly bond even though Yuuki was hospitalized; even taking her to school by a VR remote device and staying with her, right until her death:

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/922/3M0lJx.png

which can be recreated with the Figmas as well, pretty accurately:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468433057.jpeg

And even using the hand-holding part:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468433059.jpeg

Overall:

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/image/600/MetalSamamon1468286811.jpeg

Yuuki is really great! Like all Figmas, she has great quality, excellent sculpting and virtually limitless range of motion. This is another great example of what the new Figma 2.0 figures are striving for. Yuuki doesn't have a lot of accessories, but the ones he comes with are true to her character from the anime.

There's no problems with the figure at all; outside of the odd wing-pack plug accessory. But other than that, she's virtually perfect! And even better paired together with her friend Asuna thanks to the holding hands accessory!

Recommended for everyone, with or without Figma ALO Asuna. Virtually unlimited display and play value.

Now I just hope that the later releases of her from WonderFest / WF2016 and the online GSC shop don't add any extra features/bonus accesories...

calpal3 l. temu#16681132This review is absolutely fantastic, thank you!
Yuuki is my very first Figma figure, and I gotta say I'm absolutely blown away by the quality.
When did this Figma 2.0 line start? Is there a great difference in quality from 1.0? I'm thinking about going back and buying some of the older Figmas.
Also, in some of the pictures I see online in the product store previews Yuuki is holding her scabbard.
In the actual Figma its attached to her clothing. Is that scabbard actually detachable so that she can hold it the same way as in the preview pictures? Its attached on there so I'm a little scared to try and tug it off or anything.
Thanks!

Hello calpal! ^^ Thank you for reading and liking my review! ^___^ Glad it was helpful for you!

I will try to answer all of your questions to the best of my ability:

-- I don't know when the 2.0 line started; but I think it was maybe after the first 100 or so Figma's (I could be wrong).
-- There are some considerable differences between a 1.0 and a 2.0 Figma. A good example of differences can be seen here (with Saber as the example): www.modxtoy.com...
-- Not every Figma gets 1.0 and 2.0 versions; some only get one or the other. So you might have to just get the version of the Figma for that character; if there is no option between the two (if there is a choice; always go for the 2.0).
-- Yuuki's scabbard is plugged into the red skirt material on her outfit with a clear plug. Whether or not this plug comes out...I can't say. I tried just now; but it's on there really good...so if it does come out; it might not go back in. ;;^^ Because the plastic is so thin there; I wouldn't advise taking it out.

Hope that helps! Good luck getting the Figma figures you want! Thanks again for the comment! I've reviewed a few Figmas, so I hope my other reviews will be helpful too! ^^

Nevan3 l. temu#14448352Ive got a question for anyone.
The joints at yuukis elbows, are they black, or are the purple like on the box? Ive seem quite a few reviews thus far, yours being the best Sam, and it has me kind of worried.

The elbows are purple. They are a slightly darker purple than the sleeves of the clothes on her arm; but they are purple, not black. I hope that helps (and thank you Nevan; glad you liked my review the best)! ^____^

Congratulations! ^^ Still love your custom Figmas. They REALLY need to do one of Yui; and put a tiny fairy-sized Yui with the ALO version of Figma Kirito!

KiruKiru4 l. temu#12887742I am really looking forwards to the Yuuki figma. :) She left a very very deep impression in the show and i just am dying to have her myself, especially with that cheery smile :) it would make my 2 asunas happy to be with her again.
great review by the way and the peg well i manage to balanc some figmas quitewell without the stand but with the wings that would be very tricky.. i gues its for when you are doing things that dont require her base. asuna had it too and Lucina has it in her cape.
but great review and i love how you recreated that scene. :)

Thank you so much, KiruKiru! ^^ The balance issues are just a matter of being able to get them to stand with the base. It can be done with enough time and patience...but then again, they might fall over too at any point without base there to hold them. The peg was a good inclusion just so people have an extra option if they want, I suppose. ^^

It was good to recreate that scene! If you mean the spoiler one, I just got some flower pedals and tried to make it as close to the scene as possible. It had to be done...it's Yuuki, after all. ^___^

I hope you get one soon! Good luck to you, KiruKiru! Thanks again! ^^

Who would win in an ahoge battle? Saber or Yuuki? xD

Honestly, I have no idea...as I haven't seen Saber at all outside of images on the net here and there. I never watched Fate/Stay, so I can't really say. XDD Sorry...
