Pulchra's Mikasa AckermanPulchra's Mikasa Ackerman

Hi, everyone. I know my last blog post was only last night, but I caved in soon after I posted that one and ended up opening and assembling my Mikasa Ackerman 1/7 scale by Pulchra.

Packaging- 9/10

The box is fairly basic, but it's still really nice. It has a window at the front so that you can see what's inside, which means that if you like to keep your figures in their boxes, you can. The back of the box shows what the scale looks like when it's all set up, while one side has an image of Mikasa from the anime and the other has another image of the figure. The top is pretty plain, but it has the series name and Mikasa's name on it.

Be warned - that box is absolutely massive. It's 27cm wide, 20cm deep, and 32cm long; it's even bigger than my Armin RAH and Brave Act boxes.

The box has an absolutely beautiful interior. I wouldn't mind that image on a clear file.

And here she is out of the box! She comes securely sealed and taped into the blister, with her blades, a small part of her 3DMG, and the metal stand used to attach her to her base in a smaller blister under her. She comes with instructions in Japanese only, but they're simple enough to understand.

All you have to do to set her up is follow the instructions and press the little rubbery parts onto the little sticky-out bits on her 3DMG (the instructions explain it better than I do, I swear), attach her blades to her hands, and then put her on the base.

The blades are similar to the ones that come with her figma in that you slide them into her hands, then turn them a little to get her fingers through the grips.

You put her on the base by putting the end of the metal pole closest to the curve into the bottom of her right foot, and slotting the other end into the base like so.

All in all, she takes about five minutes to put together - less time than it takes to assemble a figma or a nendoroid!

Her sculpt is absolutely fantastic. They've got so many little details, like the fingers that slot into the glips on the blades, to the way that the belts on her legs dig into her thighs as she moves, to the recreation of the partially hidden symbol on her back. Like most SnK figures, the detail on the 3DMG is absolutely wonderful, but I think this Mikasa is honestly a step above the rest. Mikasa's utteraly calm expression is brilliant - I think this is one of the few true good looks at Mikasa when she's fighting when Eren isn't in danger.

The only real flaw I could find in her sculpt was the small seamline on her hair, but it isn't even that obvious.

There weren't really any paint flaws that I could see, aside from a little bit of sloppy painting on some parts of the straps on her legs (which seems to be the norm when it comes to SnK scales) but, like the hair seamline, they aren't that obvious because they're on the leg that is essentially hidden from view when you're displaying her.

The pose is perfect for Mikasa. It looks as if she's just narrowly evaded death, but is completely unperturbed about it, and already on her way to kill the Titan that just tried to kill her. It's one of the few poses that honestly feels dynamic.

Base - 9/10

Ah, yes, the infamous finger base. I'm going to go against the grain and say that I love it. In fact, the base was one of the things that tipped me towards this one rather than GSC's Mikasa. I didn't want to pay the ridiculous prices for the version with the roof base on the aftermarket, but I also wasn't going to pay a fortune for something with a base that was one step up from a prize figure (actually, the Krista prize figure has a more interesting base.)

Anyway, the sculpting is good, and it holds Mikasa perfectly, as well as giving the figure context and giving it something unique over the other Mikasa scales and figures. I love that it looks like someone (maybe Mikasa herself) has been slicing at the Titan's fingers.

Enjoyment - 10/10

I love her. She's got to be my second favourite piece, only behind the Armin RAH. She's beautiful, feels true to the character, is fantastically done and, despite how much I wish that more people owned her, I'm also glad that her price went low enough for me to buy her. I highly recommend her to other Mikasa fans. I think she's probably the best Mikasa scale out there.

Titan_Scientist (2 l. temu) #6732742I would love to know where you're getting prize figures as nice as this.

Good one, while it is clear that this particular figure is not on the same level as some bigger companies in term of quality but it is definitely way better than prize figures out there especially the base sculpt and paint.

Titan_Scientist (2 l. temu) #5586552She could probably be displayed like that without falling off if you were willing to do a bit of DIY with the metal support rod and turn it a little to Mikasa's left so that it would look like she was jumping over the fingers, and then twist it a little so that she can be displayed at an angle. The metal pole can only go in one way, but it's thick enough that it would stand up to a bit of manipulation. It also goes into her foot far enough that she won't fall unless you really tilt her down the way or reduce the length inside the foot.
Yeah, the background sheet slides right out; it's not attached to anything, so you could just flatten it out to use it.
That looks like a plan!, DIY is not a problem for me, I'll modify the metal rod or make a new one, I can even add the missing little finger to the scene, I only need to get her for a good price and I'll display her turned sideways.

Ruttsu (2 l. temu) #5586543Nice review, she's in my wishlist, but when I get her I'll make another base for her, unless she can be displayed like we see here, without falling off the base:

Will she fall off? and also, can we use this as a background without destroying the box?

khmergod (2 l. temu) #5562656I avoided getting this because of the fingers. If they were more extended and more of the thumbs showing, it wouldn't look so weird from afar.

The thumb isn't a problem for me. The only thing that mildly irks me is that, if the Titan has just attempted to grab her, the little finger should be visible. Of course, that would make the base even bigger, and it doesn't need to be any bigger.

victorviper (2 l. temu) #5538933I can't quite figure out if the fingers on (in?) the base are cool, creepy, or both :).

I think I eventually settled on creepy awesome. :D

StephieHerbert (2 l. temu) #5539051Cool review. I do like the fingers also. It's definitely fitting and something different. I've been contemplating which scales to get. I'm not in any hurry because I'm kind of waiting to see what new scales come out with the second season. I really like Koto's tree branch bases and then I was liking the sculpt on the Max Factory one I was looking at. I already have prize figures of a lot of the characters. I really want an Erwin. I know they have the Brave Act, but while those look really nice, I like the action poses of the other characters and if I start with Brave Act I might be tempted to get the other Brave Acts so I'm going to see in a different Erwin comes out because he's in my top 5 favorite characters from the show.

Thanks. :) Yeah, I think this and the GSC Levi with the Titan head base are probably the most fitting SnK scales so far. I'm actually ridiculously tempted to get that Levi, even though he's not in the top four.

This is only my second scale (the other being Brave Act Armin), mainly because the only one I really liked enough to buy, except this one, was the Koto Mikasa, which is ridiculously expensive. I really want them to make the Jean Brave Act scale (or a figma, or a nendoroid) but I'm currently waiting to find out if Brave Act Hanji will be as ridiculously priced as Brave Act Erwin. I'd probably have bought Erwin, then picked up Eren and Levi cheap if Erwin hadn't been so ridiculously priced. I really want that Hanji scale.

Ah, if only they went full Love Live with the SnK merch...
