Saber vs SaberSaber vs Saber

anime247anime2475 l. temuDiary
I was browsing a web shop when I stumbled upon this (soon to be released) figure:

ITEM #167093

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/big/167093.jpg

Which reminds me of:

ITEM #13777

http://s1.tsuki-board.net/pics/figure/big/13777.jpg

I don't know what to think of it. There are often multiple companies releasing the same characters. But this just seems like it's blatantly ripped. Not to mention the figure costs more and Griffon did a poor job. Why would anyone want to buy the Griffon version?

I just want to knock some sense into Griffon, really badly!

Sometimes figures look better in-person. The price is steep, but it's not a rip off.
I don't know anything about this character, but isn't Saber usually seen with a sword, ready to battle?
Typical fighting pose, I'd say. Better than one that's standing around and looking pretty (--pretty dull, that is).

Most Saber figures look quite similar anyways...well, from what I have seen as an outsider of the series. I mean no disrespect.

Same character, same bland pose and all different companies.

dslicer (5 l. temu) #1730714I think what he's trying to say is that these 2 figures are of the same character with a similar pose, while the cheaper one is of higher quality and the other doesn't match its price tag. Figures of different characters with similar are not that uncommon as per your examples.

I understand that, I'm just not ok with calling the Griffon's Saber a rip or a copy. It's just not true, or my english has become really bad and I'm misunderstanding the meaning of those words.

As far as the price tag goes, while I would never pay that much for that (I wouldn't even pay one fifth), I'm not surprised by it, GSC's Saber is almost 3 years old, both are in the same category of figure and about the same size. QC issue never stopped Griffon from pricing there figure like the other company and it's not like they're the only one with QC issue.

Azyx (5 l. temu) #1730270Since you like copy, two example from the Dark General comment section:
ITEM #144565 ITEM #5022
ITEM #13809 ITEM #91371
Amakuni & Orchid Seed should know better >.>
The worst part is that both example are actually closer pose wise then both Saber here.

puffyvulva (5 l. temu) #1730379Honestly, I don't know why anyone would want that Griffon Saber, either, other than for the sake of collecting every Saber.
A lot of Griffon figures, despite their low quality:price ratio, are of characters that no one else is bothering with, which makes them worthwhile if you really like the character. In this case, though...

Well there is that person with that entire display which contains every Saber in existence(at least at the time) even the low quality prize figures. It appears that person has enough money to spend on anything, so one more Saber probably wouldn't hurt.

anime247 (5 l. temu) #1730208It's not about exclusive rights, it's about standing out. If I were to make a figure which has already seen multiple releases, at least I would want to make it different. Not just copy a popular stance or whatnot.

I see no problems here.

ITEM #78770 and ITEM #105039 are from the same company. One of them is limited.

Most of the others are resins. That's different. It's like with Belldandy: ITEM #5855 and ITEM #118010

Also similar is Madoka, one figma, one figure: ITEM #98665 and ITEM #117907

neL (5 l. temu) #1729977The pose isnt even that uncommon to begin with. Good Smile has no exclusive rights over the pose either.
sarunamirabu (5 l. temu) #1729844@ GoodSmile doesn't own the sword-holding pose

Leosach Born this way
Yeah let them make... It's your decision buying or not or choose the best one for YOUR taste, we have a lot of characters with similar pose but if the character is popular people simply buy them all XD
